I am running DM 4.2.1.6 on PC XP SP3, synching with 8820. Today I tried to install the new DM 4.5. Big mistake. Spent an hour faffing around. Two attempt to install 4.5 led to no desktop icon. Checked C:\Programs\RIM\Blackberry folder just a few icons - no .exe files, so couldn't even launch from there. No sign of application anywhere on PC. Tried remove / reinstall / repair / fresh install, etc. Nothing. I think there is a bug with the installer. In the end, I had to do a fresh reinstall of my original DM 4.2 software from the disc. At least I can now launch the DM application - albeit one dated Dec 2006!
I think some other people on the Forum have had the same problem. Any idea, guys? Am I missing something? Thanks, Gary

Like, did you uninstall the 4.2 DM first?? If not, that would help out a lot. I just installed mine with no problems!!!!!

Is this for the Curve 8330 (Sprint)? If so, do I uninstall the previous version first?

Make sure you download the right file. You need to get the large file. They have a 15 Meg file what I made the mistake of getting.

Yes, make sure you download the 4.5 bundle guys and uninstall the first version that you have already on your computer. That itself would help a great deal!!

The Blackberry site does NOT include the Curve 8330 on their list of devices for this update. Not sure if that makes a differnce but....FYI

DM 4.5 does NOT install OS 4.5 in your blackberry.

I installed yesterday morning and have been using it with no hang ups or other issues. I did not uninstall the other version first. It went smoothly but took around 27 minutes on a t3 connection.

Yep, very slow download but installed fine. Is working and synching with 8820 fine, maybe 25% slower than old 4.2 version. Like the new look, however. Gary

I had as well no problems to install the DM 4.5 ... it took some time but it works fine..... And the first sync with my BB 8800 and OS 4.5.0.37 works excellent!

You need to download the 192 mb file. It tool a long time to install, I actually thought it froze a few times. B ut once intalled it runs great!

YES, it works for the Sprint 8330! I installed it yesturday and it works.

You shouldn't have to uninstall the previous version. It actually has a screen that checks for the previous version in which it then deletes it before the install.

I've went from 4.2 to 4.3 to 4.5 to 4.6 and haven't needed to uninstall the previous DMs

I installed the new dm 4.5 and it works with my 8330. No problems. Didn't even remove old version because everything was backed up on it. Works great

Ok.. here is the deal... I had the same problem and I was banging my head. Uninstalled all the BB OS' on my desktop but could not find the Dsktop icon. Then I realized that I was so dumb, I d/l the wrong file thinking it was DM 4.5, I d/l some usb driver sfwr instead.

Im sure u did the same mistake. scroll down all the way and you would find DM 4.5 with and without Media Manager. Choose the one you want and d/l that.

I've got Verizon. When I go looking for DM, I only see Version 4.3.

Is the 4.5 beta or only available for certain carriers?

And what's with 4.6 which I see some folks mentioning in other threads?

The only problem that I have had now as that after synching successfully (with 8820 or 8120), it then sometimes goes into a loop with 'searching for device updates'. The only way to escape from this is to crash out of the programme - it never actually completes the update (whatever it is). Anyone else had this problem - is there a solution? Gary
