Disappointed!!
Although I am relatively new to Blackberry (6 months), i have become a big fan. Recently I managed to convince 2 of my friends to switch to Blackberry. One of them bought a 9900 and the other one a 9860. And to my disappointment they both told me that the phones were sh** just after 2 weeks and they have switched back to iphones. And I got the blame for the money wasted. Don't know why no one likes BB in Australia!!!

I think you may be assigning far too much gravity to the preferences of your TWO friends.
...and unless you made them buy those BlackBerrys at gunpoint I think you can consider yourself blameless for their decision. - 08-05-2012, 09:30 AM #3
You r friends need to pull up their big boy/girl pants and "own" up to buying BlackBerries. You need better friends that take responsibility for their actions ( purchases). There is nothing wrong with the 9900 overall. The phones are not sh**, you just have sh*tty friends. Never, ever let someone lay a guilt trip on you for their actions.

So they just said they were sh*t and didn't say why?
BB probably didn't have the apps they wanted or they needed iTunes or something, what was the problem? - 08-05-2012, 10:21 AM #8
Dumbing down the population
To bad your friends got dumbed down by their use of iPhones. Now they don't have enough intelligence left to use a BlackBerry. Of well, it worked out for you.
A new paradigm is coming. Can you feel the shifting zeitgeist? - 08-05-2012, 10:28 AM #9Crackberry super member with posting powers no one else has and sooper sekret identities. Or so I'm told.

I am finally switching back to my Blackberry 9810 Torch2! The iPhone is very good, however, I miss my BBTorch. I have one question since I like the news stories I get from my iPhone. How come BB doesn't have USA Today and some other Bank apps ? ALso, how do I get BB to let me know when a news item happens? I used to have Bell that told me when I had SMS (Would show up on the Screen).Although this is not a deal breaker, it would make life a little easier. Thanks

The Bold 9900 is a complicated device that quite frankly is difficult to use and configure for a user who is not familiar with RIM devices. It's just not the most user friendly device if you have been using the simpletons smartphone(iPhone). One of the reasons the iPhone sells so well is that even an can figure out how to use the device.
You really can't blame them for going back to something they are already comfortable with. - 08-05-2012, 07:11 PM

like most people, they degrade something they are not familiar with. In my friend's instances, they reckon that the device actually slowed them down, duh!!! And the other fella thinks that BB doesn't have the apps he wanted. They can say and think all they want but I find my 9900 to be perfect and can't wait till I get my BB10.

These 2 friends of mine are both businessmen. I gave them the idea that with a BB they could "get things done" more efficiently, with emails, messaging, security and so forth. And also the fact that most people here in Australia carries an iphone or a Samsung galaxy s, they felt the "need" to be different at that point of time.

Dude, we all know that the iPhone also "gets things done". That's why the market share for RIM in Australia is something like .1%
And as well as "getting things done" you can also do a heap of consumer friendly, family friendly, friendly friendly things. The SG3 is the same. It's just doesn't "get things done" it does so much more.I sent the club a wire stating "Please accept my resignation. My first trip down under back in 2009 everyone had blackberries. When I went back in 2010, they had all switched to iphones. By "all" I mean a few hundred people I know in the gold coast. I will say my data connection was much better there than in the states.

Most of the plans now are around the $79 a month mark for business type peoples like myself. For that you get about $900 in calls, unlimited texts and 3gb of data. And unlimited free calls to same carrier mobile phones. Why wouldn't you have a iphone or SG3?

I think this has a lot to do with the sales reps as most people "value" their opinion thinking that they are the phone experts. Just last week my cousin needed a new phone and I went with him to get one. We've been to 3 different carriers and they all tried to push us away from BB by saying that BB will bankrupt soon. And lately I 've been seeing a lot of BB advertisements on various buses, bus stops, signboards etc, with this in mind you would think that RIM Australia would provide trainings to all the carriers. Perhaps they didn't or perhaps they are not giving enough incentives to the sales reps.
