Just a thought since BlackBerry is able to receive radio over the air waves wouldn't someone be able to develop an app that would enable digital TV over the air waves as well?

Would require a bigger attenna thn anything That would fit in th phone You are talking a bout something That could be Two stories High or If You are talking a bout satilite thn You ned a dish
They already turned off th 700mhz range for tv

You ned a digital Box for over th air

Internet tv is more practical and portable
If You had Android or iphone You can just dl an app for iptv

There's no TV tuner or decoder chips in the phone, which digital TVs need, along with an antenna system. Those chips also use a lot of power.

Streaming content is the only viable solution for getting TV content to smartphones in real time.

Unfortunately, digital TV in the US was designed and engineered in the 90s, and at that time, not a lot of care was taken to make low-power chipsets and standards, because mobile devices weren't very relevant at the time. And even though technology has improved in so many areas since then, the demand to pick up broadcast TV on mobile devices is too limited for there to have been much work done in that area on reducing chip size and power.

And as IPTV continues to expand, there is less and less need for broadcast TV reception.
