Aside from the exterior branding on the device, is there any difference? I travel frequently to the US and may get a local SIM card there to keep roaming costs down. I assumed I would just unlock my Rogers Bold when I get it, but I'd like to make sure there aren't any other limitations.

Only difference is cost. Free (DIY) vs whatever you pay to get it done
