Have anyone use a cut down Sim card and experience any problem. By a cut down Sim card I mean cutting a normal Sim card to create a micro Sim for a smartphone.

Carriers will give you a Micro SIM free of charge. Why risk it?

I've done it a few times for different people with no issues at all. that said, some carrier will give you a new one for free or a small fee.

my carrier charges $10, the reason for cutting down the SIM was due to getting the phone on the weekend and couldn't wait for them.

I've cut down a SIM, and it did work. If you're careful with the craft knife and work slowly, you'll be fine.

I only tried it on a PAYG SIM to put in a different phone, and it wouldn't have ruined my day if it didn't work. I wouldn't have risked it with my main SIM.

If your carrier will provide one for free, then take them up on their offer.

Scissors work fine, (but it's handy if you already have a micro-sim as a template).

Best Buy has the sim card hand tool to cut the card from sim to micro sim, they'll do for no charge. The carrier will transfer your phone number from the sim to micro sim over the phone, which is better than cutting one.

Yes I had success cutting one down to put in my Z10. The actual 'chip' is about the same size and the contacts (contact-points/pins) in your device allow for a slightly less than perfect fit.

I've used this sim cutter for several devices. It has worked fine, even with a pretty old Vodafone Italy standard sim that had quite a large 'gold' contact square.

If you need to use it in your old device, all you have to do is carefully line up the contacts within the larger standard sim slot.

I've used a SIM card cutter similar to AnimalPak200's several times and have never had a problem.

Yes many carriers have a cutter in the store that will cut down a normal SIM into a micro SIM and give you the piece cut out to go back. Works fine and they should do it for free.

Phone shops are open 7 days a week, plus almost all shops sell them. For less than a pound. The only fee you pay if you go to your Network is a min five pound top up.

Cut the sim is fine as along as you don't switch phones a lot like me. Then the sim should be fine.
