I followed the instructions I found on here and my Curve 8310 works perfectly as a modem for my Laptop.

I would use it for emergency only. My question is, will I get caught? If I used it once or twice per month would AT&T find out? I have DSL at home and would only need to use the modem if I was travelling and really needed the online access.

I am not looking to get into trouble here.

It is my understanding that the data that would be transferred from the Blackberry to the Laptop you would be charged for, unless you have a data package. Even if you only used it occassionally, you would still be charged for the data.

I do have an unlimited data plan for the Blackberry. I am concerned about getting charged for the tethering from AT&T.

    Any thoughts???

That's something I would like to know too. I have unlimited data on AT&T too and would like to use my 8310 as a modem for my laptop while storm chasing this year.
