Hey guys,

First post so please go easy on me if this has already been answered!

I seem to have a corrupt backup file (from my Z10), and need to access my messages desperately. I purchased some software to view the data inside but it doesn't support the 'new format' and according to this page the files have changed with os10.

I can rename the file to a .zip and this works but inside the archive I find 3 .tar files but it doesn't appear that these are actually .tar files at all (or they are encrypted).

Can anyone help - this is really frustrating!

try to do a selective restore from link perhaps.

They may be encryted. When the PlayBook first came out people were taking the backups and extracting the program bar files which lead to pirating. Blackberry was supposed to block that access by encrypting backups.

They are encrypted, just as the PlayBook ones are encrypted.
