question is there anyway to turn the volume up for music or on calls without the side button?
Music, no.
Calls, sort of. Press the green phone icon, press the blackberry button, scroll to options, click. Click on General Options, scroll to Default Call Volume, set to 100% or whatever setting you want it to be when you are on a call. Press the return button, save. No matter where the volume is set, it will always go to 100% when a call happens.
My volume buttons broke on my old phone a week ago, so I searched everywhere trying to work around it. That was all I found. Hope it helps.
