When is RIM going to work on consolidating all their different OS's into one?

RIM has several current and future phones running different OS versions. This is very inefficient and seems to prevent them from making a revolutionary step in their OS. They need to focus on two versions, one touchscreen and one keypad version that way they can focus their engineering on one common platform.

Um, this question makes no sense. How would this be possible? Do you think a blackberry 7xxx series would be compatible with OS 4.7? OS 5.0?

As newer blackberries come out, newer OS versions come with them, and OS patches come out that fix bugs, update and upgrade. Older blackberries cannot run these newer OS versions.

How long then do you they continue supporting older versions?
