It means that you're device is having trouble connecting to the site. Make sure you're in a decent coverage area and try again. If that doesn't work, then the site is having issues and there's nothing you can do about it.
I'm a newbie and also have my phone operator in Europe, but I solved the same problem with my Bold by changing the Browser setting in "Options" from 'Blackberry Browser' to 'Hotspot browser'. It then worked instantly.
