[complete speculation] New PlayBook in the works!!!!

I work at Staples and obviously I saw the PlayBook 32GB at 147.00 in our system. That means it is discontinued. So I heard from a higher position that ~~the~~ BlackBerry was coming out with a new tablet with a 10 inch screen and that this was the reason that the 7" tablet was being phased out. Can anyone else in retail confirm this?

I'm going to ask for more info tomorrow. I hope that they keep the 7" form factor too because that's the one I want. Another thing I heard was the price was going to be in the 300-400$ range.

Up to this point, we have not yet heard any word from RIM regarding this. So until then it is just speculation.

IF true, it's nice to see them offer a large PB but I do hope they keep the 7" form. I like the smaller, versatile tablet.

Ive been hoping the 10" tablet is announced on the 30th as well.
I want a new playbook with BB10 pre-installed and the crazy specs to boot.
Take my money, i say!

With Apple cutting production of their 10" almost completely due to the reponce of the mini. I'm not so sure its a great idea to come on with a 10" I will buy another 7" though! Bring it!

yeah no one can confirm this. we know at least a prototype of a 10" existed as there is a pic that did not seem to be disproven, but even that was in no way commented on by an authority at RIM.

would be great as more options will reach more people.

This might be the pic that was made to show how easily it is to fake a leak photo. It was just a PlayBook scaled up.

I would like an updated 7" PlayBook that is thinner and lighter... with an optional keyboard case that would make it as thick as the current PlayBook. That would make me install BB10 on my current PlayBooks and sell them for monies toward the new ones.

I think having a 10 inch tablet destroys the whole portability factor everyone loves about the playbook. If I wanted a ten inch playbook, I would just ask RIM to make a QNX based computer OS instead....

Yea that would be really cool. I do think RIM should do a 10inch as well though, for those who like that form factor.

I myself am not a physical keyboard kinda guy, but i bet money that some of you guys would like to see a PB with a 9900 keyboard.

from what i've been reading, rim has only discontinued the 16g version. They've been clearing out old inventory hopefully to make room for an updated 7" tablet since it is nearly 2 years old

I would love it if they brought out a new playbook! I am still so happy with my playbook, the only thing that it's lacking now is BB10 and updated specs as it is starting to become sluggish but maybe i just used it too much. I think for now they have to focus on BB10 for phones then maybe in the future they might take another shot at the playbook again.

A new 10" is on the road map. As for sluggish the os on the playbook now is essentially a beta and far from polished. Once bb10 hits it, should make it finally wake up from all it's quirks.
