Prayers sent you you and your family and friends. I have a few emergency workers in the hardest hit area sending in info to us every 24 hrs and it's so sad to see how many are effected. They are with emergency management and search and rescue. what I have seen is not only horrific but also amazing on the respect for weather we never realize till it's to late and so unpredictable.
May God look over you and your family and friends during this tragic time of need and sadness.
As for the forums. You can either email off a request asking for such action to be taken sitesupport@crackberry.com or Kevin directly - Kevin@crackberry.com. Or you can just make the decision to not sign in until you need to.
I know we all need time away from the computer and online communities every so often. But as you stated, we often skip over our priorities and miss the things that really matter. "People"
We will be here when "you" choose to make a return. But I agree. get done what needs to be done. Help those who are in need.
May you and yours remain safe in this tragic situation you are going through.
PS: I will not honor your request for account removal, as it's not my call.

I was caught in a hail storm Tuesday night and we also had numerous Tornadoes concentrated throughout this state and 24 others - including yours. One of my duties is being "on call" 24/7 as an Emergency Responder. So, I understand. I see it a lot- whether Tornado, Hurricane, or whatever happens. I'll add you and your community to my prayer list in the morning during service. Thanks for clarifying your post. Nothing was ever intended to be personal against you. Anyway, God Bless!

I really hope Kevin doesn't deactivate your account. However I heard about the tornados and such. Didn't realise they had hit the area you were in. My prayers are with you. However, I agree with John's suggestion of just logging out and staying logged out until things are better.
Ringgold, may you recover quickly and efficiently. - 05-01-2011, 12:02 PM #182
Well since you stated your priorities and I fully support them and send my personal prayers your way, SInce you will not be here anymore I guess after today since you are signed in now and am sure you sent off those emails as John suggested I just want to say goodbye personally and best wishes be with you so if you want to answer before you log out for good that is cool and if not...We might all see you again someday. Peace Kelly...

So how are we doing folks? The forums definitely seem less troll-filled since this thread has started?
Things appear to me to be going quite smooth and well from both a member and modding standpoint. Be sure to let us know how were doing!Kevin Michaluk

Kevin... I think the mere fact that YOU and the Mod team recognized a problem existed with the many forums but more importanly listened to the people that make up the CrackBerry Nation and decided to do something about it is a testiment to the forums getting better.
I know how forums can get after a while of this post being created and people fall back into OLD Habits and for this reason I requested this topic be made a STICKY which you did so it can remain a reminder and people can refer to it from time to time and not forget.
I just heard a good line from a talk show I was just watching and that was that "We are your customers" and it is up to us to voice our opinion when relevant otherwise you and your team will not know what is going on so for me anyway and I hope not being out of line with others... Thank you for doing what you do.

Hey Kevin - the forums seem to have changed their tone. So good on you and the mods for that.
I have a request that I've created a thread on, but it kinda fell on deaf ears so I was hoping you could help out.
Why doesn't CB incorporate a vote up/down system for thread posts? After so many downs the post is hidden unless you manually click to view the post by that person. An extension to the 'Thanks' that's already in place.
I think this would help out the forums as many of the 'trolls' would have pretty much all their negative posts hidden automatically and it would filter out just the good posts that are relevant to the subject or the OP.
Either way, thanks for the recent changes.Torch it up!Thanked by 2:diegonei (05-10-2011), maddie1128 (05-03-2011)

Yes Kevin, makes for a much nicer experience for us BB aficionados. I noticed the change almost immediately. It was getting pretty bad there for a while. I am confident they will no longer waste time here knowing their efforts to disrupt are now in vain. Thanks again for making things right. Crackberry Rocks Again!

It's great that someone has brought attention to this issue. It's even better that this 'someone' is the founder of Crackberry.com. Awesome, Kevin. Thanks!

Things have definitely gotten better. The incessant arguing that used to lead to the personal attacks is pretty much gone; whether that's because people are behaving or the mods are staying on top of things or both, it doesn't matter - the forums are much more relaxed and enjoyable to visit. Problem now is instead of outward trolling, there seems to be a new mini-flood of perpetually negative posters. I get it that not everybody is thrilled to death with their BB's; but jeez, just say what you don't like when appropriate and please don't feel obligated to squeeze your negativity into every thread you visit.
Otherwise, life is good. That is all.Ed

Yep, things definitely feel a LOT better in these forums!
Keep up the good work members for reporting trolls and not engaging with them.
Keep up the good work mods for cleaning out trolls before they can troll.
And.. well.. let's keep the good times rolling. The forums are busy and friendly. I love it!Kevin Michaluk

This is a good idea, but some failsafe should be in place in case people decide to follow somebody's example (no names since he's not on the forums anymore and can't defend himself) and create multiple accounts to manipulating the system.
MR. Kelly, hope you all get it sorted over there. We had our runs, but you were a useful "troll"! People do need to learn how to search. Be safe.Need Help? You know Kevin in the last eleven years I've been a member of more forums than you can shake a stick a, and I have to say CB is by far and away the busiest, and has the best community (both in a sense of community and in the quality of the members themselves!)
Thanks for letting us all be a part of it!

I agree. People may have a lot of disagreements, but when people come for help they always receive an answer. But trolling has to be defined. People who prefer Android shouldn't be called a troll. They are entitled to their opinions. But if they constantly go around bashing RIM and saying that BBs suck without any reason then that's a problem.
It would also be nice to see less posts related to Apple or Google and what they're doing. Things about how the iPad sucks compared to the PlayBook and such are only stirring up controversy. - 05-23-2011, 07:55 AM #195
I don't think that would ever happen to me but I do hope you're right. Nothing wrong with and informed and educated opinion. For the record, I think ALL manufacturers make devices of questionable quality and possibly by design so they can hit the lower end market. Now, that said, if I buy a BB Bold and it's iffy on the quality/specs, then I think we all have something to say. The problem here is that I rarely know what goes into the decisions of what to put in a device so I hate to make a negative comment based on lack of information. I could for instance voice my displeasure over RIMs slow speed on putting high end cameras in their Bolds but there may be some reason for that and I certainly don't care to look like a fool out of ignorance. I can also say (which I have) that I do NOT understand why they haven't developed a better battery for smartphones in general but again, I don't know and maybe there's a reason for that as well (feel free to inform me here).
I also hate it when people get on here and make negative statements without any particular knowledge or who insist that we all NOT buy something because THEY had a bad experience. Don't waste your breath. If you have a warning to impart to others, feel free but don't "demand" that I not buy something because you're upset about it. I can make my own informed decisions thank you very much. I for one recognize that Blackberry's are not for everyone and they have their faults. ALL phones do but I happen to really like them and choose to use one. I also use an Android tablet. So what? Everyone must use what works for them even if it doesn't for you. Ok, now I'm ranting. I better go.

Can you imagine, with the last financial news, what the forum would have been like if there hadn't been a clean up?
The wonderful debate that is going on in the forums would not have been possible. Whether you agree or not with the news, and regardless which side of the the debate you're on, the fact that it's happening in such a civil manner is a testament to the amazing work the mods are doing.
A heartfelt thanks.Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy, and good with ketchup

Keep up the good work.
When I first switched from another make of phone to the BlackBerry several years ago, this forum was one of the major points in making that decision. I believe that it provides RIM products with the BEST grass root support that any product receives.
Now I am considering an upgrade, and have pretty well decided on the 9800 -- and having access to this group of knowedgable and helpful people has had a strong influence on my decision to remain with BB.Last edited by JTeale; 06-18-2011 at 04:26 PM. Reason: thoughts not complete

I agree with this, I just try and not post when i'm extremely tired or zombified, or drunk. That way, I don't appear to be a troll. I had to cleanup after myself after that event occurred, i'll verify it never happens again.
