Cleaning up the CrackBerry Forums by Taking out the Trolling Trash...
- Actually no, they would be cookie stuffers (that are getting owned by the forum posting rules) that are to be immediately permabanned and their posts deleted (at least this was the case on WPCentral. They'd ban them, and then the same person would come right back. I caught one guy on FOUR separate accounts)02-09-13 09:40 PMLike 0
- Any chance that you guys could institute a policy that requires a Minimum number of Posts before being able to start a New Thread?
Also how about a Sticky Thread for people claiming to be returning the Z10 as these Threads are getting out of hand. Then anytime that a new one is started a Mod could quickly move it into the Stickied Thread.
When the Z10 launches in the USA it's only going to get worse so you guys may as well get on top of it now.jegs2 likes this.02-28-13 09:02 AMLike 1 - Hey mods Its getting annoying in here and it will only get worse come US release.Im just gonna quote what I said in another thread.
Trash threads like this are to frequent and just setting a bad tone in the forum. Crackberry got to limit new comers opening threads otherwise come US launch nothing but misguided ***** threads will happen.Crackberry need to change the rules to 15-20 post before opening threads that way search button can get used.Otherwise this place is gonna be a mess.02-28-13 07:04 PMLike 0 - anon(153966)DistinguishedRECOOL & Co. I hear exactly where you are all coming from. But, for a moment, let's look at this from another angle. If we did set a rule in place to only allow members to post after X posts, that would actually cause more work and generate poor posts in the long run. Some members would simply post poor or not needed posts just to meet the criteria to create a new thread.
Does that make sense? But, we as MODs will do all we can to keep the forums in order. Of course, if you see a post\thread that is not CrackBerry.com friendly, feel free to hit the 'report' button and we'll take care of it as soon as we can...
Thanks

Why don't you guys (not the mods) create a small group of like-minded individuals and you can review every thread by new users and decide if it meets your standards for non-trollish behavior (no u) and that it upholds your standards of Blackberry Decency.
C'mon guys. If a thread bugs you, don't read it. New users ARE going to buy the Zee10 (in the US) and will come here to complain - or maybe even praise it!03-01-13 05:05 AMLike 4 - I'm against censorship of any kind. So I agree with the below post.

It's obvious that these people don't even own the Z10.

If someone says "I dislike the Z10 because it has a 3.5" screen" then ya, it's false. But if someone says "I dislike the Z10 because the screen sucks" then that's just their opinion, even if its a negative one that doesn't jive with your own views. Limiting new posters abilities is the perfect way to stifle the growth of a community. Which is why nobody in their right mind would do it on a forum this popular.03-19-13 03:40 PMLike 0 - I'm not going to deny that some trolling like that happens, but it sounds like you're also labelling differing opinions as "false".

It's painfully obvious that these people don't own and have never used the BlackBerry Z10.
Just yesterday there was a Thread started saying that the OP didn't like the BlackBerry Z10 because it required BIS and because WhatsApp isn't available.
Many Forums bigger than this one require 90 days before you can Start Threads.
Some don't even let you Post at all for 90 days.

Posted via CB1003-20-13 09:17 AMLike 0 - As much as the 'trolling' might be bad, what I find just as bad or worse is that you can't seem to critique anything BB10 related with out getting torn apart. There are a bit too many forum members who are a bit too sensitive and remind me of why I don't like Apple fanboys, or Android fanboys... or, well, fanboys at all.
Seriously, if I have a critique or feature request of the Z10 (and I've had quite a few), I'll post it on the official BlackBerry Support forums before I'd post it here as you don't have to deal with a lot of the mindless responses (or at least it happens a lot less). And it is from all levels of posters, including those with thousands of posts who are 'Genius' ratings.
It's really turning me off CrackBerry, or at least the forums. The news part of CrackBerry is great and the single best resource I would recommend people to go to... but the forums? Chrikey...
I'd like to see the gang do a post about how everyone should just step back and maybe think twice before posting. If it is truly a 'troll' post (and some really are), then just flag it and leave it alone... But people need to accept the fact that if you don't agree with it, it doesn't mean you are right and they are wrong. If people really want BB to succeed, we need to be both praise what they do well (and they did a lot of nice things with BB10 so far) but also be receptive and critical of their faults so the platform actually develops. Otherwise, everyone's head is stuck in the sand thinking everything is hunky-dory and we are right back to where we were before (i.e. failing to innovate fast enough).
We criticize Apple the corporation for being like BlackBerry was before, failing to really innovate and push the boundaries... Why do you think that happened with BB and maybe now with Apple? Because they didn't recognize their faults. And we criticize Apple fanboys for being mindless 'isheep', but when we as a whole fail to recognize issues with BB10 and blast anyone for stating that their might be an issue, we are just as bad and maybe worse then they are since we should at least learn from the mistakes of others.
And as others have pointed out, it will just get worse when the rollout happens in the US as there will be that many more people on the forums.
Maybe it is just better to take a vacation from the forums and come back in the Fall when things hopefully will have cooled down. And stick to the BlackBerry Support forums in the interim.
Sad really... makes me things on the camera side with dpreview where the forums just became unruly with nothing really constructive being put forth... Then you try to find smaller forums like fredmiranda where there is a lot less stuff to shovel through and people are actually critical and constructive without the bashing... What a concept!03-21-13 08:19 AMLike 5 -
- Although I've only been a CB member for about a month now, I have to say that I really love this site and have learnt a lot from reading through loads of threads. It has become quite an addiction for me. lol And I have found that a lot of its long time members and mods are quite wonderful, helpful and genuinely kind-hearted people.
With that being said, I have to say I'm rather appalled at some of the rude and mean-spirited members that come to the forums and attack posters, just for voicing their opinion. In the last fews days or so in the BB10 forums, I've noticed an increase in members being disrespectful, vehemently attacking others who share valid constructive criticisms about the B10.
Although I love my Q10 to pieces, admittedly, there are things that need improvement. When others share their criticisms, these 'dissenters' are not only ripped apart for being so-called trolls, but are bombarded with angry personal attacks.
This is absolutely disgraceful, and I've no doubt that it not only scares lurkers from posting, but turns away some people altogether. If I didn't love this site so much, I would've left already because of the disrespectful and rude posts from some members throughout the various threads.
It really does wreck the 'good reading' throughout the threads, seeing all these terrible attacks on others, and it is disheartening to know so many people are mean spirited and just plain cyber bullys. I find this incredibly sad, because it keeps those wanting to share constructive opinions and ideas silent, for fear of attack, and drives others away, so they miss out on this wonderful forum and all that it has to offer.
Something really needs to be done to lessen the attacks on others, these mean spirited bullys need to be put on a tight leash, or given the boot altogether. Just my personal opinion, but I'm sure others agree.
