"Without mobility in place, many businesses are putting themselves - and their data - at risk as users are more likely to leave themselves open to attack. This is even more prevalent when employees are using their own devices, combining business data with personal, accessible, information. However, it is easy to mitigate this risk by using mobile device management tools.

As different and multiple devices infiltrate the workplace, enterprise management systems help to mitigate risks and provide visibility. BlackBerry was the top enterprise mobile device management application. Nearly half of the businesses surveyed (43%) said they used BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10. This was followed by Citrix at 16%, Mobile Iron at 11%, Good Technology at 10%, Airwatch also at 10% and SAP at just 4%.

Security conscious businesses who are using mobile in the workplace are increasingly choosing BlackBerry devices too, spurred by its excellent reputation in the enterprise market. As such, the firm continues to be dominant in the sector. According to CIO's survey, BlackBerry was by far the most popular mobile device supported, with 85% of firms saying they support the manufacturer's phones.

It was followed by Apple's iPhone operating system, iOS at 64%, Android at 48% and Windows Phone at 42% of respondents.

According to the survey, top considerations when implementing a mobility strategy include device management and employee productivity. Meanwhile, unified communications and employee satisfaction were seen as less important, reflected by their lower scores."

There are numerous areas where they are still strong and hopefully they can build off the Fairfax deal (if it goes through) and we'll see not just server penetration but also BB 10 devices.

Thanks for the positive news article.

My brother-in-law works in a law office on Bay Street. He's always carried 2 phones - a work issued BlackBerry and a personal BlackBerry. A couple of years ago he switched his personal to an android.

A few weeks ago he sent me a new BBM invite. He'd gotten a new phone - a bold - I assumed for work. Last week he sent me another new invite. This time from a new Q10. I've been wondering if this is his work implementing BES10. They are pretty heavy on security (the main occupation of that law office is to break drug patents. Big money). Can't wait to see him on Thanksgiving this weekend and find out.

And to teach him how to use video calling in BBM.

Everyone knows BlackBerry's the tops when it comes to enterprise; however, BlackBerry cannot rest on its laurels if it wants to continue to dominate in this ever important genre of service. They are gunning for BlackBerry as nothing would give them greater pleasure than taking the throne while BlackBerry is transition. Long live BlackBerry!

Cloud based BES? Hello. That would be pretty good, government spying notwithstanding.

As an MDM solution, BES10.1 is fantastic

Our clients have mixed feeling over Secure Workspace Vs EMM regulated for BDS & UDS depending on what they are trying to do with the solution.

We recently rolled out a BES10.1 solution to a business looking to have better control over 1500 ipads and they spent months comparing BES to Mobile Iron and Airwatch. You can't beat the support and experience you'll get through Blackberry and their partners in enterprise

Hearsay is that another big US firm with global presence, has decided to go with BES10 after a brief trial period.
