    A friend of mine gave me his used chromecast. It's like a streaming device you can control from your phone. It has an app where you can control it from your phone. If I sideloaded the app, is there any chance that it can work?

    I think each app (Android) has to allow for it... Try sideloading Netflix and see what happens.
