Is it good to charge your battery for an extended amount of time? for example, like overnight? I always thought it would fry the battery or components if you charged your battery too long...

Charge as often or as long as you want. Circuitry keeps it from over-charging. Here's some info on Battery life:

they say its no big deal, but overnight is usually my limit
most of the time just the 1.5 hours it takes to fully charge is enough

Nope once your battery hits 100% it actually stops charging. For these batteries it's not bad to have them topped off as much as you possibly can either.
