Hmm VZ which is a CDMA carrier will be the first to institute LTE as their 4g network in the US. I am guessing that they can co-exist. There's actually an article in today's wall street journal about it.

Bottomline is CDMA will be around a long time, you have nothing to fear. The first LTE devices will most likely not be phones anyway.

I don't see why they can't co-exist...as long as the device as both radios in it. Back in the days early days of CDMA there were phones that were both CDMA and analog capable. There are world phones now that are both cdma and gsm capable. Cdma and LTE equipped devices can't be that far a stretch.

yes, both CDMA and LTE can coesxist, someone recently demonstrated a phone that was able to hand-over from LTE to CDMA successfully
