I am a huge banking app user. Every bank I use and every credit card has a Mobile banking app. I can be sitting at a computer and will pick up my 9930 and access my accounts as I think its more secure than my laptop. Plus I like the option on the road to check my balance or pay credit card bill. I go to Capital one and look for a BB mobile app and I only find Androd and I phone. I get a pop up and am offered live chat from a customer service person. This conversation is funny/sad. Its rather clear that Larson needs to be retrained Check it out and have a laugh while I access the android market place to DL the app for my blackberry.

I happened to be googling this subject and landed upon this. Whats funny is I see ad posters for their mobile app at my 9 to 5 and oddly enough, the phones on the ad poster are old qwerty Blackberrys.

The sense of irony is strong with that institution.

Kid you not. I was buying PB at PC World, big electronics outlet in the UK known for selling PB 64GB for 129, and the shopkeepers kept telling me they were Android tablets. They were even kind enough to throw in a few copies of Norton something for Android for free! Both nice and sad.

You know what really enrages me about banks not delivering decent mobile apps for BB and Windows Phone?

The cost to open a SINGLE BRANCH is often over $1 million.

The cost to develop a decent BB or WP app is less than $1 million.

The same banks opening up five or six new branches in a city like mine (San Francisco) that has 800,000 people will insist that there just aren't enough WP or BB people out there to make developing an app worthwhile.

So you'll spend 5x the amount required to make an app to open five branches in a city with 800,000 people... but you won't spend $1 million to develop an app for an ecosystem with millions and millions of users.

Gee, I wonder why all the banks blew up in 2008... it couldn't have been because they were clueless at math or anything. :P
