Can't backup via BT
Okay, I've been battling with this phone for months, so I'm sorry if this post comes across as angry. I'll do my best not to rant.
My phone doesn't want to connect via USB. I don't know why. I've tried googling. I've tried every 4.x version of the desktop manager. I've tried every solution I could find on the first several pages of google. Nothing works. I'm going to call my carrier and try to get them to replace the darn thing.
But before I do that, I want to back up my address book. SIM backup is low-quality at best (truncated names and only 1 number.) So I bought a bluetooth dongle.
After discovering that, for whatever silly reason, the DM doesn't like any drivers but Windows, I got the MS Windows drivers back on.
Now I can't backup anything. When I boot up the desktop manager, it asks me anywhere from 1 to 5 times in a row whether I want to connect or not. After it finally decides to connect, the only available options are backup/restore and synchronize. When I try to backup, it lets me pick a filename and then pops up the "Transfer in progress" window. No progress is made and after a minute that window disappears, leaving my entire DM grayed out and unusable.
On a whim, I tried synchronizing. The first time, it successfully retrieved my database but then wouldn't let me back anything up. Now it just says "failed to connect to device." Resetting the synchronization settings doesn't seem to help.
What am I doing wrong? I don't see anything that should be causing this to fail. The phone and windows love each other and will gladly send and receive files using both Toshiba and Microsoft's BT drivers. It's just that I have no way to save my contacts. Any ideas?
