I was wondering if, for example, I had a bold and the BB Niagara ships with a brand spankin new browser, could I update and upgrade the Bold browser to the Niagara browser?
The browser would probably update when the upgraded os coes out for the bold.

They are 2 different devices, there MAY be a way to get the Niagara browser to work in the Bold, but most likely RIM will update (and IS updating) the Bold software on it's own. :)
So each device has it's own device specific browser?
I believe the Browser is built to work with your specific OS. So, when you have a new OS version installed on your BB, you get the new features as well. I don't think you would be able to take a browser for a 4.6/4.7 device and use it properly with the 4.2/4.3/4.5 OS.
I would just plug in to DM once in a while, if there is an upgrade for anything it will show up. (I always get the "help" as an option cause I delete that POS immediately!)
