Can no longer sync to my computer

Hoping someone can help me.
I am with Verizon and have the BB pearl 8130. I updated my BB desktop manager to the current version (sorry don�t have the ver number with me) ever since I did when I plug the BB into the USB, the computer sees the phone but the desktop manager does not. Yes the DM is set to connect via USB.
I have rebooted the computer many times, tried a battery pull on the BB , tried switching USB ports and nothing helps.
It use to work just fine before the update, same phone same USB port.
Anyone else have this happen? Any suggestions.
Was going to call Verizon tonight if I have the time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
