the community generally believes no, many of the os7 devices wouldn't have the internals to properly execute bb10. but hey who really knows, I just pray they'll come out with bb10 on a keyboard form factor

NO!!! But.... you will be able to upgrade to OS8/OS9
which should have some OS10 features that are compatible or
should I say able to run on your older OS7 device.

Since RIM previously stated BB10 will require dual-core processors (which no BB7 device has), I would say no. That would fall in like with most of their other recent devices, since no BB6 devices were upgraded to BB7.

Just like asking if your PS2 can play PS3 games. It is not only the software that is changing with respect to BB10, it is hardware as well.

now you are getting the idea.... but this has been know for quite some time and i purchased my 9930 knowing that and based my purchase upon what it can do for me now (as a massive upgrade to 9650), not what it may or may not do for me in the future..

There is absolutely no evidence of, nor reason to believe that RIM has any intention of releasing anything in between OS7 and BB10. This is just like the talk of a BBOS 5.5 for the Storm 2 with elements from OS6; it had no evidence and thus never happened.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the OS7 devices are all done unless RIM does something completely out of the ordinary, which as of now there aren't even rumors of.

    There won't be an OS8 or 9.

What this WE stuff your talking about. I have two OS7 (9860) in the house. One was bought for $0.01 & the other for $49.99. A grand total of $50.00 for both phone. I think I did rather well.

Sorry man, but it won't be able to. BB10 runs on QNX which was pretty-much built with the intention of having at least 2 cpu cores (the best bb7 phones have fast cpus, but only 1 core).

The inability to upgrade is the exception IMO since older BB phones were quite upgradeable and new BB10 phones should be as well (Thorsten has said BB10 is their platform for the next 10 years). BB10 is a total departure for the BlackBerry platform. BBOS was over 10 years old and could no longer be upgraded and remain competitive.

I understand the frustration, but BlackBerry would have gone out of business for sure if they had kept trying to upgrade BBOS. So although it sucks, they really had no choice IMO.

It also seems that BB10 needs at least 2 gigs to run smoothly but the best bb7 phones have 0.75 gigs (which also makes a PlayBook version of BB10 seem worrisome since the PB has only 1 gig). I'm sure it can run on the PB, but it may require some major changes (like reducing the max # of simultaneous apps running from 8 to 4). As a PlayBook owner, I would not upgrade to BB10 for PB until after I'd seen how it performs.

Too bad that you couldn't put in a new processor in the 9900 , just like my old desktops where you could upgrade the processor. I used to buy new processors on Ebay (LOL).
