Its a Verizon phone. On my old phone (not a Blackberry) my texts would pop up on there own when I received them, I never had to open my inbox I was wondering if maybe Blackberry had an app or just a way of doing the same thing

BellShare has an app that causes a window to pop up whenever you get an SMS or email. I think it's called BerryPopup.

I use a holster that has a sleep mode. When something comes in, and I pull phone out of its holster, the message pops up on its own than.

To automatically open a new message, when taking the device out of the holster, open Messages - menu - options - general options - 'Auto open newest message ....from holster' - set it to always.
