You should be able to...The GPS hardware in the phone doesn't stop working if you are on another carrier. What app are you trying to use?

Does it only work with Blackberry Maps?

I can't seem to find wherever I am with either Google Maps or Blackberry Maps so that's what I'm curious about.

I know google maps uses cell towers to get an approximation of your location.

Did you set the network to GSM and the GPS to Location On?

I have my storm unlocked and i use the vz nav on the phone it works great if you go to it and it doesnt work you have to uninstall it using the dm then reinstall it you might have to do it a few times but hey when it works you will be glad you went through the trouble it has everything in there you need hope this helps
