Business People Still say "BlackBerry" when meaning Phone
- I'm watching ESPN right now and with a bunch of trade deadline stuff going on in the NBA and Free Agency in the NFL, they are interviewing experts a lot. I've seen so often today people getting alerts on their phone and someone else mentioning the BlackBerry going off like crazy today. One time the guy was using an iPhone when this happened.
My point is that once people start calling BlackBerrys an iPhone, all may be lost. I almost never hear people say "Check your iPhone", but I do hear people say "Check your BlackBerry" or "Check you phone". If the iPhone can do what the iPod did to MP3 Players, than all may be lost. This is what RIM needs to protect and attack.03-15-12 10:09 AMLike 0 - Blackberry is synonymous with Business.
Even though many businesses are switching to iPhone, Blackberry's are still a standard.
BUT, if RIM wants to stay that way, they need to put out more newer phones more often.
I still see business folks rockin old Flintstone 8330 Blackberry's.
That would make me run towards an iPhone too if I had a dinosaur phone issued to me for work.a1s2d3f4g5 and Recoton like this.03-15-12 10:26 AMLike 2 - Same thing with Tivo. I am always hearing people say Tivo this and Tivo that when they actually only have those crappy cable provider DVRs or a Direct TV/Dish Network one. It is an insult to Tivo... lol.
This happens when a device is the first to define a new way of doing something very very well.
Not a lot you can do about that.03-15-12 10:30 AMLike 0 - I notice that more and more smart phones wants to increase security and productivity apps. Samsung has started with Knox to cater for the business professionals. More on the info over here: How useful is S4 for business? - StarHub Community - 14648
Do you think black berry still have superiority over this new technology by Samsung?04-18-13 10:54 AMLike 0 - I can confirm this. I facilitate conference calls and whenever we hear interference on the line we ask the speakers "Does anyone have a cell phone or BlackBerry near the speakerphone?" We've been saying this since I started here nearly 8 years ago!04-18-13 11:05 AMLike 0
- IMO, depends where you are. Most everyone here refers to a phone as just that: a phone. However, most everyone assumes that someone has an iPhone or an Android.04-18-13 01:59 PMLike 0
- Lol. It's quite true that the vernacular will be around for quite some time undoubtedly. Rim made it's mark, no question about it! You're reading way too much into the terminology. The heavy inroads of iPhone and android make it clear that regardless of what phrases people use, bb has no lock on business.
But indeed, the language will be with us for a while! If the company fades, the terms will eventuall fade as well. Excuse me, I have To go xerox something, I would take a Polaroid of it, but I'm out of flash bulbs!04-18-13 09:51 PMLike 0 - I have been purposely calling my BlackBerry a "BlackBerry" around other people, just so the thought that BlackBerry is still around gets in their head.04-18-13 10:10 PMLike 0
