    This is an Awsome seminar!
BlackBerry Technical Seminar is Today!! | CrackBerry.com
Mike Kirkup, Manger of Developer Relations for RIM just announced OS 5.0 for existing devices early next year. Also the 8350i coming any day for Sprint will have the 4.6.1.xxx OS, same as the Javelin 8900.

An app store is really necessary imo. I know that there are plenty of sites with apps, but the ease of knowing that the program is accepted by RIM and isn't going to nuke my berry is essential. It's just too bad that we have to pay for programs because of some simple features the phone lacks, such as VibAndRing

Yeah there are several apps that should have been adapted into the OS. But then of coarse, RIM would have to pay the developer that made it royalties.

Good info. And I agree. Too bad we have to pay but at least we can upgrade. Can you imagine a bb world with no upgrades and programs?

OS 5.0 sounds NICE. Might not want to get rid of those Curves just yet!

Just out of curiosity, is OS 5.0 only for curves or for Bolds as well?

From the sound of it, only Curve Pearl and possibly 88xx. But they were vauge. I recorded it. I'll go back to it later.

I can't imagine that they'd leave the Bold behind. This is just my opinion, but either the 5.0 will work for the Bold or a new Bold OS is also in the works.

I didn't get the impression that 5.0 will better than 4.6 or 4.7, but rather a way to differentiate the new os for pre 4.6 devices.

The link you posted is dead..

    EDIT: NVM it works now.

And that does suck...we all know what happens when you leave things to carriers....

My thought exactly. If it works and has RIM's approval, Veri- I mean carriers, shouldn't be able veto it.
