As far as I know, there is nothing saying AT&T won't be offering the BB10's. Have you heard different?
Sell your current phone to pay off your current contract, use it as PAYG until BB10 comes out then take out a new contract with your provider with a nice new shiny BB10 device. Simples, init!:beer:
Why not just buy your BB10 device outright and put it on your plan? That's what I always do, although I'm not with AT&T. But that way there's no canceling your plan or paying termination fees.

I have been on ATT since the 8820. I hated the 9800 and when the 9810 came out and addressed a lot of what I didn't like about the 9800 - I had no upgrade to use so I had a choice to make. I went into an AT&T store on launch day for he 9810 and paid full price for the new phone. If you do that you just take the SIM out of the 9800 and put it in the 9810 and everything else continues as it was.
The only difference in this case with BB10 is that you will have to go to an LTE data plan, and you might have to swap your old SIM for an LTE sim.
I think that's why the contracts are popular...........most people can't afford to buy one outright.

AT&Ts contract breaking is simple (and expensive). I'm in the same position as you. My 9900 is a year old now on a 2 yr contract. It is $325 termination fee MINUS $10 for every month of COMPLETED contract. So figure BB10 comes out in Feb. I will have completed 14 months of contract. 14x10= 140 which means $325-$140=$185. So, I will owe $185 to end the contract, plus however much the new contract costs.
Definitely a PITA and pricey, I may or may not do it. We shall see, trying to start a savings account so I can get a 2006+ Range Rover in a few years when I get my MBA. lol Unless a very wealthy fellow forum member would be generous enough to help me out sooner. :)
if you can hold out- the phones wont be out and available until mid-late Feb, so keep checking your account online. they will often allow a full upgrade after 18 months. usually for the most expensive phones such as BB's and iPhones. I've NEVER waited the full 2 yrs to upgrade.

With T-Mobile's value plans, you purchase the phone outright but pay a much lower monthly fee. You save money in the long run the longer you keep that particular device since you'd be paying around $20 less per month than you would on a regular plan. So for two years:
Option 1: Pay $200 for a subsidized phone plus $70 for a monthly plan (for example) for 24 months = $1,880
Option 2: Pay $600 for a device outright plus $50 for a monthly plan for 24 months = $1,800
Here's what I am doing:
The moment I find out that T-Mobile online will allow me to order the BB10, then I will put in for a number transfer. This automatically cancels my phone contract with AT&T and moves the number to T-Mobile. I think the US put in place laws that stated it should work this way.
In your case, you'll be charged for 350 - (24 - n) * 20 for 'n' months served. I'll be paying around $120 or so.

If RIM is smart enough to have off contract prices in the same range as the Nexus 4, I'm planning on switching to Simple Mobile. Saving better than 50% a month makes up for the ETF and the difference in initial outlay between subsidized and unsubsidized phones.
The unfortunate part about moving from AT&T to Simple Mobile or Tmobile is that you will miss one of the most important updates in the new BB10 - LTE.
If you are in an area that's not likely to get LTE anytime soon, no harm no foul. However - if you are in an LTE area its a big loss, LTE speeds at 4-5x faster than HSPA+, with the exception of the Tmobile 42mbps areas.
Do we know if the Z10 and X10 will support the Tmob 42+ speeds?
