I turn it on and it comes to the screen" Property of Research in Motion" than after like 20 secs it goes to the regular home screen.. How can I remove this screen? It is annoying when I turn it on every time.,

It appears that the phone has been unbranded. If you tried to re-brand the phone you could brick it.

As in it was used as a test model for reviewers. Unbranded=no logo of TMO or ATT or whoever else would have an unlocked Pearl. You could just leave it on all the time.

Yeah it bothers me but.. I can live with it.. Just thought someone would know how to get rid of it .. and is it really a good phone? for a 16 year old.. I willjust use a regular plan and I think it is good for my age .. do you agree?

I have owned two Pearls the first a 8100 with no data just regular with text as a 17ish year old when I had it. It's a texting machine if you get a hang of the Sure Type keyboard. Not to mention it came out of my pocket on a roller coaster and survived without a scratch. Long story short I agree. For night charging and whatever you can just turn the sound profile to off instead of turning the device off. My 8900 has a keyboard wobble but I shall live with it.

If it were me I would let it go but some people need everything in place so for you I would recomend loading the newest OS available for your carrier. This will replace all the coding in your phone. Other than that I have no clues.

It's unbranded so it shouldn't be constrained to a carrier. If you do go that route look for the newest OS for your Pearl 8100 or 8120 not sure which one you have in the matching forum, OS updates are stickied to the top of each of their threads. Read the directions for them!

Installing a new OS would have no affect on the startup screen. Someone has unbranded and unlocked the phone, the unbranding process replaces the carrier screen with a BlackBerry Engineering screen. The only way to change this is to re-brand the phone to a specific carrier (ie AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers....). You need software that's questionable whether it's legal or not to perform this task. If you don't know what you're doing with this software you can turn your phone in a nice bricked phone paperweight.

You appear to have an engineering prototype. They are not intended for resale. There is no way to remove it.

No, it's an unbranded phone. My Bold shows the same screen on boot up. The browser also has BlackBerry background. Also RIM disables the PIN on prototype units after the tester has completed testing.

Thanks for the update. Now we all know what an unbranded BlackBerry looks like.
