Bold 9700 - O2 uk no longer support tethering
Hi all,
Having previously tethered my bold 9700 to laptop for use as a modem I am now told by O2 in the uk that "they do not support tethering on the 9700". This came about when I contacted O2 for profile settings following bb desktop software upgrade. It seem absurd to me that the device is fully capable and that a number of other devices are supported (9360, 9380, 9790, 9810, 9900, 9320).
Does anyone hear have any ideas? - 11-09-2012, 01:35 PM

They don't support the 9700 tethering or they don't support the 9700 at all anymore? Sometimes when a phone goes to EOL carriers will just stop supporting it in terms of CS support or updates, that doesn't mean your phone can no longer tether, they just won't tell you how to do it. I would continue tethering if you can, it's almost impossible for a carrier to tell the difference between inphone and tethered data.

Does the 9700 not have the ability to set it up as a Wifi hotspot?
I'm on a 9900 and use the wifi hot spot regularly when I can't get proper wifi on my laptop. Okay, it runs up data charges via the 3g, but you'd run up data charges if you tethered so it is swings and roundabouts.
