BlackBerry in China would be awesome. Mass potential. Probably the Z3 and Q5 for market penetration at a lower price point.

Could work.. most andorids in China don't use the playstore... so bb10 could sell. The android wechat works okay on BlackBerry and that's most important

They DO use android, but anything Google related is banned. I think they have their local app store? Forgot the name, it's in Chinese anyway. And theirs is the only country that samsung released a hybrid android flip phone. That's one helluva expensive phone. But I'm such a sucker for flip phones. Guess if flip phones can sell there, surely BlackBerry can have a piece of the action.

I'm much happier to see the word partnership floating around instead of buyout. I still wish they would have partnered up with Sony. Sony has some amazing hardware and I would love to see a BB10 enabled Xperia tablet.

Japanese have always loved keypad and flip up phone, they basically invented this during the heydays of Nokia , Motorola etc . JC should meet up with Sony and others Japanese handset makers too since he is there for the Apec in China . Being with android and touchscreen have not help Sony much, it's time they try blackberry OS with keypad and flip phone again Some good suggestions from Crackberry fans in these forums on various topics. Hope that Crackberry guys can relay these to Blackberry as their feedback instead of us talking amongst ourselves.

This would be a good opportunity for Blackberry to outsource the mobile hardware business. If your partners can make quality devices at such a low cost then why would you continue to make your own?

    From Wikipedia regarding John Chen:

    International relations[edit]
Mr. Chen is actively involved in international relations. He has testified before Congress on U.S.?China trade relations.[3] U.S. President George W. Bush appointed Chen to serve on the President's Export Council in 2005.[11] In 2006, he was appointed co-chair of the Secure Borders and Open Doors Advisory Committee.[12]
Additionally, Mr. Chen chaired the U.S.-China Policy Advisory Roundtable for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).[13]

So he probably knows a thing or two about making the correct relationship to fulfil his strategy with BlackBerry.

With Google trying their best to lock manufacturers into Google Play store, and more apps requiring it perhaps a partnership with a local company in China would be a good way of getting BlackBerry phones into the market. I don't think BlackBerry would outsource their OS because of security risks. Maybe outsource the OS minus all their security protocols for entry levels phones in China and keep high level phones as premium devices for them to handle in house?
Considering BlackBerry already runs a variety of app stores (bbw, Amazon, snap, mobile 1) why could they not allow some of the major app stores in China run on BlackBerry 10 also? Just have it pre installed.
