I don't think this can be done through a cell phone still. I've called before and asked if the person can be required to dial *82 and no dice. They still haven't came up with this feature for cell usage yet. I just simply don't answer private calls no matter what. But I feel you on this issue.
I also have the 8330, and that would be a great feature for RIM to add to their devices. Reject anonymous (private) calls. I do the same thing, if I don't know who's calling, I hit the ignore button.
Yea me too! I was just hoping for an easier fix to this annoying problem! Lol

Isn't it more of a problem that really only the carrier can address though? Because let's say we had the option on our phones to block private numbers. Basically it would just lead the person calling straight to your VM. But if the carrier blocks them for you, they would get the operator saying "this person does not accept incoming calls from blocked numbers. Please hang up and dial *82."
Well either way I would like to have that option....just did a lil more research and tmo has a bb software to download tht will enable ur device to block private #. Prblm is, I don't have tmo! Lol so I guess tht I can be done

Not to bring ya down but that is not correct. I have a Samsung A737 Red which is my old device that can. And in fact not only could it block restricted numbers, but I could also create a reject list. With no problem.

Okay I didn't know this was possible. I'm really going to start to have to look into this now. I would love to be able to block private numbers. Thanks!
No prob.
Thing I don't get is why couldn't they get this set up for blackerrys or even smartphone as a whole. They can for lesser "tech" phones....

On my old Motorola RZR had that option of only accepting calls from people in my address book, one would think that a smartphone company would set this option in somewhere on theirs heh.
Cerberus call filter. Third party app works great!
some motorola can be set to just take calls from the address book.
My old Nokia 8890 phone could block any private numbers coming in, as well.
i did a search on my blackberry help page and it said that you could block calls its called barring.it says to go to phone menu click options click call barring highlight a call blocking option click the menu key click enable.i don't see this option on my 8330 may be some one else can help out.
I also could not find that option. Thanks for doing the search through.

god i so wish verizon would allow us to do this directly from their site...
there are so many people i am tired of hearing from that just dont get the message when your phone goes to voicemail 8 or 9 times in a row....
I have black and white list and while the testing I did worked great I have yet to get an annoymous call.
Tayboogie: I didn't know T-Mo had this software...what's the name or where can I find it? I tried google and came up with nothing...
Never mind, I found it on T-Mo's website; it's actually 3rd party software.
And its called.........? The public is waiting.
