The news is not good for Blackberry and the sales of the Q10 and Z10 are disappointing.

One question I have is why don't they lower the price? The Q10 and Z10 are priced too high and are pretty much the same price as a Galaxy S4 and the cheapest iPhone 5. Too me, this is misguided. You can't sell a Hyundai for the same price as a Mercedes.

To a segment of the market, price matters. Maybe more people would take a gamble on a Blackberry if it was more reasonably priced.

What am I missing here? Drop the prices already!!! Clear your inventory channel.Get the phones in peoples hands instead of piling up boxes of unsold Blackberries in warehouses and stores.

Blackberry Management keeps messing up every day.

Comparing BB to Hyundai is totally misguided, although I kind of agree about the pricing policy.

Okay, an extreme example to illustrate a point. The Blackberry Brand has so much potential. They are dying after coming out with the best Blackberries ever.

Okay. Maybe I should have said you can't sell a Kia for the same price as an AMG S Class Mercedes. You get my point though.

Z10 in Canada is $649 off contract. An S4 is $699.

    I got a Z10 for $200, a Z10 for $.88 and a Q10 for $510 the Zeeees on contract the Q10 off a vendor website.

I do agree that the price at launch should have been A LOT lower~ It was key for them to achieve volume of units to get the fire under peoples butts. Instead they opted for a "premium" price and with it had a lot more competition.

It really sucks cause the BB10 is literally amazing.

They should have given their loyal customers a decent discount to upgrade to Z10.
Even if it meant selling the units at break even - solely for the purpose of generating sales.

Had this been done , they would have more units sold - better numbers to show off & create more buzz...
Maybe then , they would have been viewed differently.
    ( From customers & also opponents )

    Should have ......

Blackberry did an excellent job at engineering the new hardware and software. But marketing/pricing totally failed!

Has anyone thought that maybe they didn't want masses of people buying these devices when they came with the 10.0.9.### OS.

They are only now becoming amazing with 10.1MR

I was on the BlackBerry community support forums fielding questions from irate Bbos converts for those first two months. It was not fun!

C-Class is the lowest Mercedes sedan you can get where as equus is the most expensive Hyundai. Pretty much the same as comparing a Z10 to a cheaper android

Best Buy is giving them away for free with a $50 gift card (at least they were last week) On contract. Carriers aren't going to sell phones off contract for cheap because they aren't getting what they would for a contracted phone no matter what the phone is.

The company has been quoted as saying that they had wanted to release the phone at the 10.2 level of software goodness.

They needed to get to market in the first Q of 2013 (which was already at least a year later than it should have been at the latest...)

There was essentially no marketing campaign.

    Just sayin.

but Thorsten heins clearly said when he announced the delay of BB10 last year, that it was because he could `see the seams`. are you saying they were still visible at launch?

as for the `amazing` 10.1MR and fielding questions from irate users prior to that, how did the MR and the sms loss do for ya? for me (and many others) the MR update caused issues, not fixed them, so lets not call it amazing just yet lol.

Thunderbuck propounded that "theory" in another thread. I identified for what it is: a flimsy rationalization. Shirley, you can't be serious.

errr, keep moving ads over the tv for the first month or 2 would disagree, oh and the small matter of a expensive superbowl advert.

but yea, essentially no marketing. lol

oh, and did someone mention Formula 1?

    More than just the seams...

The 10.1MR text 'debacle' was nothing compared to the 10.0.9.### update that caused email headers to corrupt!

Honestly, if something is important to you, back it up. Multiple ways, it's called not putting your eggs into one basket.

To me texts have always been temporary... I do no important business with them. Apparently some do, and those people should be backing up with redundancy...... or maybe they aren't really such a big deal.

10.1MR is leaps ahead of the launch software.... surely you can't debate that?

Blackberry would be better off sponsoring a NASCAR team than formula one. In a sense the marketing is good for overseas but in North America that advertising is useless.

Formula one is not that popular here..
