Leaving mine at home is not an option so I'm another who at least use to bring a ziploc to the beach, until I discovered these West Marine: Waterproof Dry Paks for Electronics Product Display....especially handy when on a boat.
Is there any way to have headphones connected while it is in the dry bag?

no, because it's sealed all the way around. like i said i have several, one with a hole cut out for headphones. it keeps the sand out. the other i have is completely seal for when i'm nearer the water or it's raining.

if you use bluetooth you are good.
