Just part of the downsizing, it won't affect how amazing the bb10 is. People shouldn't worry so much about these kinds of things just some buildings for sale. Or rent , maybe there is some revenue available there.

You mean how bad were BB10 sales?
They sold less than 1.8 million BB10 devices last quarter.

They took a loss of $940 billion in Z10s they can't sell at a profit. People are estimating they have 5+ million Z10s in inventory.

I'm not going to question the veracity of the statements in the article but I always look on these things with a measure of suspicion when they include:

Citing sources it did not identify, the Globe said...
I understand that there are sources that cannot be identified for a variety of reasons but this is done so much that it really makes me question the credibility of news outlets that use this as often as the Globe does.

Recognized sales. They can defer recognized sales out to the expired warranty period if they want.
The write down on inventory is a projection of decreased revenue relative to current vs future device sales. That doesn't mean that the "loss" will materialize and we will never know because we will never see another quarter of earnings from BlackBerry because they will be private.
As for "people are estimating " well people estimate all kinds of stuff.
If everyone just forgot about what was going on with the business and picked up the product this would be a different story. I'm sure it will be when BlackBerry is private.
