I have AT&T and version 4.5 on my Blackberry Pearl 8120. My cell phone signal in my house really does not work very well, so my thought is to switch the mobile network to some other carrier. My phone doesn't allow me to choose. Others have better signals in my house. I am locked in my contract until May.
I had a pearl with verizion and it worked well in most areas, had pretty much no signal when I would visit my parents though. I guess it just depends on what area you are in

To use your phone on another network you would have to get it unlocked and then get a sim card for the carrier you want your phone to work on. That would also cost you money above and beyond what you are paying to att
