We have to stop believing that everyone who buys an iphone thinks they're cool. Don't a lot of people on here think they're cool because they have the Passport, which is a "Beast"? You are what you think you are, other people or phones can't change that.

Of course not everyone with phone brand 'x' thinks that they are cool, but a lot of 'em do. I know cuz I am surrounded by 'em.

It's like any accessory. People buy them because they think they make them look better, fit in better, be more productive, whatever. We make personal choices and we all are different. Clumping people together is ineffective in getting the whole story.

BlackBerry as a brand right now is not cool, That said neither is apple. Cool devices are more of a thing IMO. I also have an iphone 5c and can see people's lack of excitement around it when compared with a 6 or 6+. The passport I believe is cool just due to its rare size and rarity in public. People are still shaking off the bad memories of they're curves when they see my Q10. They probably think I'm a hipster! Which by the way isn't cool either.

I remember when the coolest phones were customized Nokia bricks. Different colored or tansparent aftermarket bodies, from matte finish, high gloss, glitter, etc etc... Candied or chrome or transparent aftermarket keys. Batteries with LEDs that would trigger epileptic seizures every time you got a phone call.

Lol I guess. I've tried to find something that mentions him being a consultant with RIM but I can't find it. RIM was founded in '84 which would have made him late 60's the year they launched so I'm just curious of the impact he had with them.

In fairness it does get a bit bookish and dry but you would need to look at 'Quantum computing/mathematics,' Mike Lazaridis ' ,Quantum valley investments' type links, and you will start to piece together a picture. Alternatively you could take tour of' Bletchley Park ' and the 'Museum of computing' and truly have your mind blown .
