Is there any app that allows you to load maps to be used with GPS while you aren't in a service area? I'd like to use this for out in my boat but I see nothing on BB Maps or Google Maps when I'm out of a service area. The gps still picks up my position but needs internet service to download the maps

No... I think the Garmin Mobile software allows this. I am not 100% sure, but I read up on the Garmin software for a while and there was a debate on this...

The Garmin site says the maps are preloaded on a microSD card and can be used even when out of service Check it out I guess!!

Trekbuddy and Mobile Gmaps can be used without data service but you have to plan your trip info in advance. You have to download maps in advance of a specific area to your computer and then upload them to your bb's sd card.
