Hi, I'm on T-mobile and I plan on getting a Blackberry WITHOUT a data plan

However, I was informed that many of Blackberry's functionality is disabled, even if I have wi-fi access. Is this true?

What apps are completely disabled?
And which ones are still functional?

I plan on using wi-fi from my home and occasionally in retail areas that have free wi-fi

You will only be able to browse the net and make uma phone calls. Nothing else will work other than sms/mms if your plan allows for such.

it's good to know i can connect via my home router with relative ease

however, what particular apps don't work?
-does blackberry email still work?

Q: Why am I not able to use (insert name of third party app) with WiFi?

A: Many third party applications require some form of data plan in order to activate third party applications. Therefore, the majority of third party apps will not work with WiFi only!

Had I won the 8900 (I didn't) then I would have just used it for web browsing via wifi, without any plan at all. Or sold it, as I'm pretty happy with my Storm. I think thou, IF I had a BB without a data plan, I would want wifi for sure!
