Half day ago, my family member blackberry os10 phone stopped working. Pushing the on button or swiping up, nothing happened, just a blank screen. Plugged to electric socket, screen came alive. That was it. You couldn't operate the phone. Battery power indicated good charge.
Fast foward half day later, yes exactly, the same thing happened to my blackberry os10 phone. Phone is dead now.

It sounds like possibly a hardware issue.
One alternative would be to let the battery die (or pull the battery if possible), to force the hard reset.

It would also be helpful to know what kind of a phone you have.

I know that I had trouble periodically with my Classic where I tried to restart it and it seemed to get caught in a loop where I had to repeatedly re-set the phone in order to finally get it to restart, so keep trying.

It never happened to us before, ever! To happen on two separate model phones on the same day is unbelievable. I am using the passport.

Did you recently update BB10? Any other changes?

Did you perhaps have a power surge in the house?

I agree that it's weird that both phones would die on the same day, but it could happen.
The power issue I described is with a Classic, not a Passport, but it could be the same issue.

Take out the battery, then wait few minutes put it back and that should reset it. Unless something changed with the OS

Both phones managed to come back alive. I had to long press the ON button much longer than usual.
