normally 35 - 60 minutes depending on the size of the update and the amount of data that needs to be backed up or re installed!it can take a while and yes sometimes the screen will blacken for a moment or two but how long has it been off?

trying to post a link but it isnt working for some reason..... if you fry the phone (term refered to as "bricked") then do an advanced search for thread titles and just type in Bricked.... The first thread that pops up will help.... if anyone else could post the link it would be cool

pull out the battery and put it back in... if you get a white screen that says "app error #... reset" then it is bricked

Give it a few min to reboot but if you get that wsod(white screen of death) or that error msg it is bricked. There is a link in my signature on recovering a dead blackberry. It has brought many berries back from the dead.

The good news is, that happens less then 1% of the time.

The bad news is, it happened to you.

Fortunatly, it has happened often enough that we have recovery down to a science.

There are three conditions that qualify as bricked.

Stone cold dead, likley soaked in sea water. No chance of recovery.

White screen with error message. Fully recoverable

Black screen. blinking LED. Cross your fingers, you might be lucky.

Yea sounds like the OP has number 3. I have seen folks with that problem have to try the steps in your thread several times to get it to work. So to the OP don't give up after 1 try.

You may need to wipe and try again, BUT first try pushing your service books, Step 1, Options, Advanced, Host Routing, press BB button, select Register Device, Step 2 Open Setup, then Email Setup, then sign on, press BB, select Service Books, then Send Service Books, Step 3 pull the battery.
