    It would be disastrous for BlackBerry stock price if their profits revert back to negative. Since revenues are still going down let alone show an increase, Chen has to keep cutting costs.

    Nothing is particularly wrong. Here is what you need to factor in:
    • Turnaround strategy;
    • VERY BAD economy (worldwide);
    • Cost reduction

    You may or may not have missed it, but Microsoft also cut a bunch of people from their mobile division this week.

    Chen is on a budget... if revenues go down, then next month he has to cut spending. And it ain't like he has a whole lot of options on where he can cut.

    Also they have pretty much move everything hardware related over to their 3rd party manufactures... so a few hardware job are most likely no longer needed at BlackBerry.

    If he really is making a move to Android then there is a lot of outsourcing that is going to be done and a lot of BB10 development that isn't going to be continued.

    This. And also some of the developer relationship people since it is joining an established app platform.

    Developer Relationship.... that got cut a while back - think after the Amazon deal and Chen told developers to move on.

    But yeah if they are moving to Android.... they will not need as much BB10 development or in house work on Apps like Facebook or Twitter.

    Would be interesting to know where their workforce is these days.... at one point they had 7,000.
