    If I have my charging dock hooked up to my computer via USB cable, would I still be able to have access to tethering?

    I believe it needs to be plugged into the bb and not the charging pod

    Correct. The charging pod does not do data transfer and I don't know if it is
    a good idea to have the phone in the pod and also a USB to PC connection
    at the same time.
