I've been paying $5 every month for BlackBerry Care since I bought my BlackBerry Priv.

I bought it for peace of mind and the fact it blatantly says on the website you will get a replacement device the next business day subject to cut off times.

Last month, I discovered my Care plan was marked as expired even though my payments were up to date. I sent them an email, they said it was an error and would correct it. Still hasn't been corrected.

Filed a claim yesterday for a shattered screen and paid $129 for the claim. They ensured me a replacement device would be shipped to me by today overnight via FedEx. I was well before the cut-off time for next day delivery.

Guess what didn't happen? Next day delivery. Find out they didn't ship it until today until after 6PM EST.

So I won't get it now till tomorrow (if I'm lucky) or next week.

Thanks a lot BlackBerry! Once again, BlackBerry Fails.

A repair shop would have been able to replace the screen same day.

Immediately cancelling my BlackBerry Care plan over their blatantly misleading false advertising.

I think you are overreacting a little bit. They are replacing the phone. So you might get it a day or so later, its not the end of the world. At least you are getting the phone replaced.

So what??? It's a refurbished device they're sending and I'm paying good money ($63 a year plus x $129 per claim) for the BlackBerry Care protection plan for the privilege. They're advertising the service as NEXT DAY arrival of the exchange replacement phone. Next day doesn't mean 2 days later. Completely misleading false advertising.

Does Apple or Microsoft make you wait two days under their protection plan? Do they even make you wait one day? No they don't, you take it into a Apple or Microsoft store and they swap the device on the spot.

Oh that's right, Apple and Microsoft actually cares about their customers.

Well you are choosing to buy from a company that doesn't have a store, so that's your choice. Secondly, if it's refurbished but looks new what's it matter. You knew going in they didn't have stores and 2 days really isn't a big deal. Take a breath, it will be fine.

I bought BlackBerry Care under the pretense of next day delivery. Not 2 day delivery. That's like buying a Ferrari Spider 360 and getting a Ford Focus.

I think that's a bit of a stretch. You are getting it in two days so you'll just have to accept it. I know it's not what you paid for but **** happens and then you move on.

So one day is just a little faster than two days. Are you saying that the Ferrari is not much fashion than the Focus. To me a Focus would be a week or more

While I agree that it's probably an overreaction, OP makes a good point.

He's paying for next day delivery of a new device, so he expects next day delivery.

If blackberry can't deliver, then they shouldn't be charging the money.

I think everyone else expects way too little.

Are you really complaining about paying $5...I'm not sure what the issue is. They replaced your device and it took an extra day, big whoop. If you think the other guys care about the customers then go hop on that bus. You didn't pay any extra for overnight shipping.

I agree the OP has a point, but they did replace the device and as far as Apple and Microsoft are concerned, they also give you a refurbished device as a replacement.

I think those types of care plans are generally a rip off anyway. I think the most common real damage to the phone is a broken screen, which you can have repaired at a local shop for way cheaper than the total cost of the plan plus the cost of the deductible. If the phone really is destroyed, you can probably still buy a used or refurbished unit yourself, again cheaper than the total you sink into these plans and the deductible. Especially if you keep those plans for years and rarely ever use them. Also especially for phones like BlackBerry, which don't have high resale value. A year after you bought your phone, you can replace it yourself with that same model for pretty cheap, maybe even with new in box as the prices drop so much.

Insurance is better reserved for protection against things that you couldn't cover financially yourself if the worst happens - health, car accident, death, etc. The insurer knows the odds of you making a claim and the cost you're charged is enough that it's more likely the insurer will come out ahead. That's ok when it's giving you peace of mind about something that could be a life altering event. Otherwise, it's kind of a suckers game.

That said, if they're going to rip you off, they should at least provide excellent service and actually provide the service they say you will get. Don't advertise next day if it's two days. That's just crooked. How are people here defending that? If something fell through the cracks in this one situation, they should apologize to the customer and make it right. If it's how they normally do it, then they are swindlers.

Yes.. I was going to do it but the deductible is too high IMO. I realize it's not going to be $0 but I think it should be more like $50.

OP... your not happy with BlackBerry Care.

Wait till you use your Health Insurance on a major claim like if you get Cancer.... "Sorry we don't cover that $3,000 medicine as it's experimental", or "That Clinic is part of your network".

Insurance is.... well it is what it is.

There is a local repair shop that can replace a PRIV screen in a day? You must live in Canada.... forget the health insurance comment.

Was gonna comment Canada. But you did it for me.

It's OK, 2 days for a phone is still better than 3 weeks for a specialist.
