$99 is too much money for an old phone with an orphaned OS. By this point they should be no more than $50 under contract.

The Bold is the flagship phone and the best out right now. Its no telling when BB10 will actually be out. $99 is still a deal.

You can still get the Torch 9810 for free.

It's a good deal... for those who want to own a Blackberry.

It won't entice anyone who's interested in what the iPhone and Android offers - which is the majority of people.

Not necessarily. There wasn't much of a change from iPhone 4 to 4S and some Androids are stale. Some folks might be bored and wanna try something else, while others may be waiting for iPhone 5.

But its an even better deal for those with older Berry's who are finally ready to part with their OS4 -6 dinosaurs lol

Yes, but those people will be few and far between. RIMs marketshare will continue to dwindle in the US despite the 9900s price drop.

    Maybe, maybe not.

Its still a good deal for those who want a 9900.

RIM should make it 199.99 without contract and let you save your upgrade eligibility for BB10. (See the poll I started in this forum)

    You bet it is !
Lower it @ 60 : it won't interest more those who wants iPhones or Androids.
I found this (old) video hilarious ... yet somehow true enough. (just friendly smile or laugh, no extra-bashing intended)

That would be up to the carrier though, not RIM.

Why would it be up to the carrier if you purchased directly from RIM? The contract attaches to the purchase of a subsidized phone.

Haha. $49 dollars is the difference eh? Nope sorry you're being a tad greedy.

And slag all you want. The $99 deal is pretty sweet for a great phone. BB10 isn't out yet so comparisons are frivolous as well as irrational.

I picked up my Torch 9810 for FREE also in Fall 2011 on Rogers when they had the promo!

Awesome deal, considering monthly plan costs same as all other smartphones anyways, which all cost upto $200 extra!

Heck, for FREE I would save my $200 and get a free Torch 9810 and if you still feel the "Apple itch" you can pick up an iPod Touch for $200 and have BOTH!

Outstanding deal. Girlfriend just used her upgrade to get rid of her Iphone4. I normally dont have anything nice to say about Best Buy but I have to give credit where credit is due. Their customer service was outstanding and the girl that helped us out was suprisingly well informed about all the phones. I had to laugh because she kept playing with the Bold and running her fingers over the keyboard and saying " Wow I really love how these keys feel I might just have to set one aside for myself". I think we may have a convert to BB.

Looks like the deal is still going on.

The Bold 9930 (Verizon and Sprint only) is still $99 but the Torch 9810 is now $49.

    Still a great deal.

Concur. I've got a Torch that I'm less than happy with and would love to get a Bold for $99 - but used our upgrade for my wife's iPhone 4S. Looks like the waiting game shall have to continue, unless I can find a Bold dirt-cheap on eBay.

the initial $249 price tag was insane
