blackberry bold 9000 wifi connection problems
- Hi
i have read several topics on wifi connection problems but as yet have not seen an answer.
i have a netgear N router with wifi output.
my laptop works all the time with no connection problems.
both the laptop and berry have wps connections and they are correctly set.
i have set the pre-shared key up many times, the network shows connected on the blackberry
however every time i ask the wifi to connect it connect and then gives a message "connection terminated "on my blackberry.
the icon is not lit up and the wifi diagnostics shows a minus sign.
it has worked before but would not stay on all the time.
please see copy of my wifi from the bb diagnotics screen.
i would appreciate an answer as i want to use my berry when abroad and for use in the house.
any firm advise as to what i can try next ?
by the way it wont connect on several city wifi hotspots either.
regards
pete

What you need to do is change the wifi channel settings to something like 6 or 11 (Test out other numbers to until you get a solid connection). Something where other channels wont interfere with your wifi frequency. You do this by setting it up in your routers admin panel. Reference to your routers manual on how to get there.11-09-09 04:26 PMLike 0

will manually changing the setting effect my laptop receiving the wifi connection ?
scuse me asking this question
pete11-10-09 02:57 AMLike 0 - Hi
changed my netgear router wifi unit to channel 10, wifi switched on blackberry bold 9000 almost immediately !!!
tested wifi on youtube etc and it works fine.
many thanks, i assume if i lose it again it will pay me to test other channels ?
some questions , please answer if possible for future help.
1)should i leave my browser defaulted to hotspot settings ? assume if one is near as per my house it will be picked up ?
2)my netgear wifi unit has 3 settings, 54, 145 and 300.
when on 300 and checking via the dell wifi utility availability it show signal dropping, i have left it on 54 Mbps and its steady.
3) the wifi icon on the blackberry goes off when not used for a while, soon as i start using blackberry wifi opens again, light goes bright white , it this normal ?
copy of my settings from advanced option on blackberry, note its nice to copy settings and put them in emails for help to be more readily given by the experts
Latest copy of my wifi connection
10th november 2009.
Netgear channel changed to no 10
Now working on the bold 9000.
Well pleased

left phone on last night to charge and with service and wifi connected.
looked at wifi icon, switched off.
tired it 30 mins later still the same.
it looks like gateway address was not shown again.
opened netgear router again, changed channel to no 6.
wifi started again with all settings shown ok.
what can i do to make teh connection maintain?
regards
