Having no facts to back this up I'd like to point this out.

If some one says "look it's a cop". I think most ppl would expect to see a man in blue.

If someone says "the fire trucks are on the way" I picture a group of men in red fire fighting devices"

How about "my new nurse is doing great helping w/ my recovery" tell me you don't think it's a woman.

"Our office has hired a new Admin assistant" yup, I think about a woman.

And lastly. If I were to hear "look. It's John Chen!" I would instantly think I was in the presence of God.

I'm not sure it was deemed sexist....as there is nothing in the term that denotes a particular gender.....I think it was just upgraded to a term like "assistant" that implies more than just typing letters. Since most secretaries were, and still are, women, I think they also moved away from the term just to move away from the assumption that it was a woman doing the job.

Siri has the option to switch to male or female voice. It's funny that in the US, the female voice is stock and in the UK, it's the male voice.

I switched it to male and gave it UK English because I'm such an Anglophile but he couldn't understand a thing I said.

Reverted back to female voice US English and she gets me.
