    Dear OP.
Just do the right thing and take the 9810.
    I have a 9800 and a 9900.
The 9900 looks and feels great, slim and light. But that is about it.
The screen is desperately squashed as are the icons. There isn't even enough room for icon names. I have moved all my idle gaming to the PB because of it.
On the 9810, RIM dropped the ball by not redesigning the exterior. It is cheap and plasticky but the screen is big and the same pixel density as the 9900. The keyboard is not that far off. And that sliding mechanism is sooo robust. I have dropped mine endlessly.
The 9810 is great for idle gaming and is in effect two phones in one, a 9850 and a 9900 in one. Build quality aside, the compromise doesn't even merit a debate as it's minimal.
Having used the 9900 and 9800, unfortunately I have to recommend the 9810. I know the 9900is touted as the top end BB at the moment but to me the 9810 is just much more phone for your money.

It all boils down as to what you want to do with it. If it's about calling, e-mailing, and general communications then I'd say 9900.

If you're moreso into the media/web surfing/app utilization then you're probably better suited to the 9810.

But if you're in the latter camp why not wait for the BB10 phone?

Thanks to everyone who has replied. You've all been extremely helpful

I decided to go into my local phone retailer today and spoke to a tech guy who has owned both the 9900 and 9810. He told me that the 9900 was a great but not very robust and for a 'flagship' phone was overpriced for what it offered (if you forget the keyboard).

Whereas the 9810 was a good phone for the price and that it was a very robust phone (the guy had been in motorbike accidents with the 9810 and both the guy and his phone had come through in great condition). The claimed that the 9810 was just a phone for 'getting stuff done' which it did well.

He also taked about the batteries on both phones. Claiming that the 9900's battery wasn't good enough for the phone and that it could be changed depening on usage.

Whereas the 9810 had a decent battery life and that it lasted longer if you used it more rather than leaving it idle all the time. Does anyone find this with their 9810??
