BlackBerry 10 news virtually non-existent in Indonesia
For some reason, while BlackBerry is (still) no.1 in Indonesia, RIM Indonesia doesn't seem to be so eager to promote BlackBerry 10. In fact, the official facebook of BlackBerry Indonesia haven't even mentioned BlackBerry 10 a single time. They mentioned the usual social network buzz like "Like if you love #TeamBlackBerry!" but no BlackBerry 10.
While the first devices are high-end (and Indonesia, being 3rd world, may not be expected to buy a lot of 'em), iPhone seem to catch on in Indonesia. Pretty much all the major carriers (Telkomsel, Indosat, XL) are pushing iPhone 5 currently, all the way since November IIRC. Meanwhile, RIM won't even announce BlackBerry 10 in Indonesia at 30th January.
Most likely, RIM is still in trauma of dealing with the launch of Bold 9790 (one of their executives even got arrested IIRC). That doesn't mean they have to go all silent about it, though.

As stated before, after the launch, everyone will probably notice a lot of advertisements.....especially with BlackBery being No. 1 over there in Indonesia. I would be surprised if it were different. Anyway, just a few more weeks.
Yeah well, I understand that ads on TV and such won't be around until the announcement. It's just that, with the number of people in Indonesia, there's more potential customers. Between the time of BlackBerry 10's announcement and its actual availability, there will be many purchases made for smartphones. And not just entry level smartphones either. Like I said, carriers are pushing premium price smartphones like iPhone 5.
Even more troublesome is the fact that BlackBerry isn't even considered significant as a platform by the mainstream media. In Indonesia, whenever you hear the term "smartphone" in media, the context is usually about iPhone and middle-high end Android devices, usually followed by pictures of both range of devices. BlackBerry is mostly seen as "messaging" phone.
Even this close to announcement, any media news about "new smartphones coming in 2013" mentions precisely zero BlackBerry, 50% iDevice, 50% Android.
While it's true that news are pretty much available only from tech sites, at the very least BlackBerry America facebook (for some reason, while I "liked" BlackBerry America, I got subscribed to BlackBerry Indonesia's feeds) kept mentioning BlackBerry 10's features. BlackBerry Indonesia kept posting about general social media buzz.
I'm worried that people won't be informed enough to hold on the purchase. After all, we have to admit iDevice and Androids are the go to for gaming and entertainment.

Odd. But maybe it's a strategy to continue to sell off OS7 phones at least for little bit.
But Indonesia needs to be informed no later then Jan 30th. You do not want to slap a good market in the face.

Since OS7 is doing well, they might as well run with it for now. RIM has always maintained that BBOS 7 is not going to just go away. Support will continue for it.
