    Bogle’s Blog

    it says :

Version 4.31 should[*] enable Blackberry Storm users to use GPS. It also fixes a bug on the plugins settings screen in which buttons were not clickable.

i am not familiar with poynt.

i used berry411 alot on my moto q before i found live search.

my biggest issue with berry411 on my moto q was that it was so hard to change the address to search from. you had to put in home, work and other, and if you wanted to search from a place other than one of those three, you had to go and edit the settings, which was real annoying.

but being that the storm version searches using gps, it should be alot better. i find myself searching for things near my current location or where i will be. not near home or work! i know whats near home and work

I'm using default settings with the location "GPS" being used instead of "Home" or "Work".

Make sure your GPS location is turn on in your advanced options.

So I just tried this app for the first time. It was very slow for me. I didn't realize it just finds things and then opens them in the regular browser. It seems I could just Google things faster assuming I know my zip code. Looks like ill just stick with Google maps for now.

Isn't it kind of sad that the developer of this app was able to correct the GPS compatibility with the Storm in such a short time, yet the big boys at Google can't get their $h!t straightened out.

I really think Google just doesn't give a shut about keeping storm owners happy. They have android and iphones to worry about me thinks. Which is too bad because it does seem like an easy fix.

this app is for 411 related info, so use the "yellow pages" button. it is not dependent on the browser

this gives you quick access to a phonebook based on GPS location

So how is it different than searching for something in Google maps, other than the GPS is more accurate than cell tower locating in GMaps? In my limited testing, it wasn't any faster, and didn't show all results on a live maps like GMaps.

I have run both the current Beyond411 and the Poynt beta. Out of the two, I still like the Poynt beta better. The Beyond411 app is good but most of the things you do with it require you to open the BB Browser. The only real thing that you can do from within the program is search the yellow and white pages. With the Poynt app, you can do all your searches (movies, directions, businesses, etc) from within the app.

    Possibly a dumb question here:
To use the GPS function for Beyond411 do I have to be paying the $11 a month to verizon for verizon navigator?

Nope, the GPS is unlocked on the device. Just go to Options> Advanced Options> GPS> GPS Services and set it to Location On.

It takes about 15 seconds to open for some reason, but besides that, it works great. Thanks

The yellow/white pages searches are great so far. The plugin searches not so much. I like it though.
