    NFC just isnt around much in the US. Why market something that cant be used except for a handful of places.

    Would anyone even know what NFC is? The U.S. doesn't even have chip embedded credit cards.

    iOS is the only major platform that doesn't have NFC. Howarmat is correct that there just isn't much demand for it (yet) in the US. It will take Apple adopting NFC for it to become the coolest thing ever and the must-have innovative feature for people to actually use it in large numbers.

    I would think getting retailers interested would have to come first. All the consumer interest in the world means nothing without places to use the system. Right now there is very little to market.

    Something like running a super expensive Super Bowl commercial for a product that isn't available.
    I don't think knowledge will drive up interest in NFC. Android and WP8 already have it. It isn't material yet.

    More retailers need to be on board with the feature. Similar to Passbook on iPhone, the necessary retailer interest has to be there. (Oh, and I don't think enough retailers are involved with Passbook either.)
